Developing individuals through outdoor skills training.

What is ASDAN???

ClimbingASDAN (Award Scheme Development Accreditation Network) programmes and qualifications are aimed at young people of all levels of ability.  Skills and achievement are recognised as young people complete personal challenges in areas such as:

  • sport
  • healthy living
  • community involvement
  • arts
  • work experience
  • relationships
  • citizenship
  • enterprise.

All ASDAN Programmes and Qualifications have a number of common features:

  • They are learner centred, offering opportunities for a negotiated curriculum which is modular and activity based
  • They encourage candidates to develop responsibility for their own learning through a process of action planning and review
  • They assist in the personal and social development of the individual through a focus on Key Skills for which the QCA (Qualifications Curriculum Authority) national standards provide a template for assessment and accreditation.
  • They recognise achievement across the school/college curriculum, as well as in the home, the community and the world of work.

PMA offers fully certificated ASDAN programmes for schools and youth groups, including:

  • Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE)
  • Key Skills Qualifications.

We also offer short courses that can contribute towards CoPE and other ASDAN awards, such as the:

  • Activities Award
  • Adventure and Residential Award.

Key skillsShort courses allow progressive learning through to the COPE level 2 award contributing up to 46 points towards the performance tables. COPE level 2 is equivalent to a grade B at GCSE. Cope Level 3 is equivalent to a top AS with rating of 70 UCAS points.

Short course award programmes offer structured challenges for all ability levels and opportunities to include activities inside and outside formal education.

All Activities contained within ASDAN programmes are available to be run for both Youth groups and schools. Each program and associated award can be run for a group of up to 10 young people or as few as one, depending upon your needs.

Other Activities

PMA also offers Activity Awards for other individual activities such as:

  • climbing
  • kayaking
  • caving
  • canoeing
  • archery
